We SALUTE our Veterans!
Since the 1920’s, NHHS’ contribution to our United States Military has been significant, including two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients; we are likely the only high school in America with such a distinction. As part of the Alumni Organization’s commitment to historic preservation, we recognize, honor, and celebrate the NHHS men and women who faithfully serve(d) our country, some paying the ultimate price.
Below are our NHHS Veterans for whom we have photos. Click on a veteran’s name or photo to learn more. To view a list of the 100+ NHHS veterans for whom we currently have accounted, please click the Veterans NHHS link below. Within this link, there are New Hanover County veterans who were killed in action but whom we are unsure were NHHS students; these are identified with an asterisk (*).
While this data is the result of professional authors’ research, archive retrieval, and personal interviews, we invite you to share additional names, add to or correct our information by either submitting the Veteran Submission Form below, or by emailing Lt. Colonel Mark Farmer (’77), who leads our recognition effort.
