Jurgensen, Beverly Anne

Class of 1948

Beverly began her working career in the family business, Jurgensen Motor Transfer as a partner and general manager.  She then served as Director of Human Resources with the Wilmington Star News for 28 years, also serving as Employee Relations Manager for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group for over three years.  She was the first female member of the Lower Cape Fear Personnel Association and the first female president.

A volunteer with the NC Azalea Festival for 46 years in numerous divisions, she was an officer for 28 years and the First Female President of the Festival.  She was active in other community activities, including the City of Wilmington Safety Advisory Board, American Red Cross, Employment Security Advisory Board, Family Services Board, and the Hospital Hospitality Board.  She was also a 25 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of the Hanover Seaside Club since 1963.
