Born October 23, 1935 graduated New Hanover High School 1954. Williams is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he played football for 4 years. He was a Vice Admiral in the United States Navy. Williams is a former commander of the United States Sixth Fleet, Commander of NATO Recruiting Command, and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Naval Warfare. Jim was a submariner who served under ADM Rickover. Jim also played QB at NHHS in between Sonny Juergensen and Roman Gabriel and he went to the Naval Academy to play football.
